We then take the tiny, historic turntable ferry - the last of its kind - over the Sound of Sleat to Skye. This day is a masterpiece!
Day two is dedicated entirely to exploring the Isle of Skye - a landscape so dramatic that words fail to describe it. On day three, we leave via the Mallaig ferry, stopping at the world-famous, Glenfinnan Viaduct (the Harry Potter Bridge), the jaw-dropping Glencoe, and the beautiful Falls of Dochart in Killin on our way back.

Itinerary
DAY 1: You will be collected from your lodgings at 8.30am for a trip North across the Highland Boundary line and immediately the scenery out of the window will change dramatically. There are plenty of options for a quick pit stop before turning left down the old Laggan road heading West. It's a long way to the Isle of Skye but this route takes you through some wonderful parts of Scotland. As we approach the bottom of Glen Shiel we'll turn left into the tiny road over Mam Ratagan, a mountain pass with exceptional views back across the Five Sisters of Kintail. Down the other side we'll reach the wee hamlet of Glenelg where we slow right down, taking time to enjoy lunch in the wee local pub. Afterwards we'll be checking out some weird ancient archeaology and perhaps even a pint in the local microbrewery and some Highland Folk tales in the old byre. The last ever fully operating turntable ferry in the world will take us over the tight tidal passage to the Isle of Skye. From here we take the narrow breathtaking road over Bealach Odal which will eventually get us back to the main road through Skye. You can spend this night almost anywhere on the island. We can make it work so please have a chat to us before booking so we can advise.
DAY 2: You will be collected from your lodgings at 9am for a trip into the North of the island and through the Trotternish Peninsula. We'll pick up a coffee in Portree on the way. There are some sites that you simply must see. They will be busy but you cannot come to Skye and not do this. These places are famous for a very good reason. The Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock, Staffin Beach, the Quiraing and the Fairy Glen. The afternoon is all about choices. If you have your heart set on the Fairy Pools then that's where we go but if you wish to get right off the beaten path, there is plenty of fairy magic to be found on the Waternish Peninsula and almost nobody knows about it. This decision can be made on the day. I can tell you all about Skye or show you plenty of photographs but it simply will not do it justice. Once you see this place for yourself, you'll know what I mean. You'll spend a second night on the island.
Review
He was very knowledgeable and had an entertaining way of explaining the history. He was flexible and adjusted the schedule to fit our desires. He even threw in some extra fun spots.

Tour Variations
Occasionally road closures or weather warnings can force a change of route and we are well equipped with the knowledge required to make the most of an opportunity to show you some incredible sites that you were simply never expecting or even aware of. You are in good hands.
DAY 3: We'll pick you up in the moring to catch the early ferry from Armidale to Mallaig on the mainland. There is a long distance ahead of us so the day starts with a splendid 40 minute sailing over the Sound of Sleat and then a scenic drive to Glenfinnan and the famous Harry Potter bridge. It's also where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his Royal Standard in 1745. The route takes us through Fort William for a pit stop then onwards to Glencoe. You'll be stunned by the natural intimidating beauty of the place. A few more short stops to be had between here and the Falls of Dochart. Pray for rain. The falls can be epic. A couple more hours of wonderful scenery, before we get you to your lodgings.
