Frequently Asked Questions
How many people can you accommodate on a private tour?
We specialise in small-group, intimate experiences. We currently operate three vehicle sizes to suit your needs:
-
Premium SUV & MPV: Perfect for couples or small families of up to 5 passengers.
-
Premium Hatchback: Perfect for couples or groups of up to 3 passengers.
-
Extended Executive Transporter: Ideal for larger families, or groups of friends, accommodating up to 8 passengers comfortably with ample room for luggage and "Hairy Coo" photo gear.
Is the price per person or per group?
At Local Legends, you are booking the vehicle and the guide exclusively for your party. Our prices are per group, making our private tours an excellent value for families and small groups compared to individual "big bus" tickets.
What is the cost of a private day tour?
Pricing for a standard single-day tour starts at £620 across all vehicle ranges regardless of passenger number.

Please note: Prices may vary based on the specific itinerary, duration, and any custom requirements or entry fees included in your bespoke package.
Can we bring a larger group than 8?
Yes we can accommodate larger groups. 16 seater, 22 seater and larger coaches can be arranged. Prices vary according to mileage and size so please enquire for a very competitive quote.
One we have paid the deposit, and our travel plans change, is the deposit refundable?
Our Terms and Conditions state that the deposit is non refundable but honestly, we know that life throws a curve ball sometimes and to date we have always refunded when this rare case has arose minus any expenses that we have incurred like ferry fares, admission fees, transaction costs etc. We are all human including us. Really. We get it but please equip yourself with travel insurance to help recoup the full price once paid in case you need to cancel within a couple of weeks of the tour start date.
What kind of clothes do I pack?
The Scottish weather is notoriously unpredictable. All seasons within 20 minutes. Packing light layers with a waterproof outer is a good idea but it never gets down to freezing temperatures during the summer months. Rain, wind and warm sunshine is to be expected. We are often asked about footwear and we swear by our leather boots. They'll get you from muddy mountain sides to city restaurants.
Does Scotland have mosquitoes?
The answer to that is yes we do. They are called Midgies. They are super tiny and only ever bite once in their lifetime meaning that no diseases can be spread by them. The bite themselves are nothing more than an itchy irritant that goes away within a day or two. They can swarm in the Highlands during the summer but we always carry great repellant. The Scottish Migde cannot fly in a breeze. The wind is your friend and your guide will advise you if they suspect a Midge problem outside of the car. We have all learned how to live with them here in Scotland.
Can we be dropped in a different location that we were collected from?
Yes you can. If it is significantly further away from Central Scotland then it may affect cost but so long as it's in Scotland then it's no problem.
Are you able to book our lodgings?
Unfortunately no we cannot. If we were to include lodgings in our service then we would be a Package Tour Company and thus liable to significant increases in insurance costs which would increase the costs of a tour. Instead we are happy to recommend places throughout Scotland that suits your taste and budget for you to book yourself.
What happens if the weather prevents our tour from going according to plan?
This indeed can happen to all guides once or twice per season which inludes the odd road closure. We are well versed in the options to hand to ensure that you continue having your great Scottish adventure. Good contingencies through learned experience. You are in good hands and we haven't been beaten yet.
Can we be picked up from any location?
Yes you can. If it is significantly further away from Central Scotland then it may affect cost but so long as it's in Scotland then it's no problem.
