A Bit About Michael

I’m Michael, a proud son of Perthshire, right in the heart of Scotland. Growing up, I was the kind of kid who couldn’t resist exploring every castle, battlefield, forest, and loch within reach. My wee granny, a true oracle of Scottish history, filled my head with tales of old, igniting a passion for this land that’s never left me.

In my early twenties, I ventured to the bustling streets of Glasgow, where I served as a police officer, keeping law and order in the big city. It was there I met my wife, and together we decided to return to Stirling -a place that called me back to my roots. Stirling offered the perfect balance, a peaceful haven for raising our clan of 7 lively kids, far removed from the harsh realities of inner-city crime.

For the past 21 years, I’ve been sharing my love for Scotland with my children, exploring castles, lochs, standing stones, and the breathtaking hills and glens that define this beautiful country. My granny’s stories and books have been passed down to them, ensuring that the magic of Scotland continues to inspire.

What I love most is uncovering lesser-known gems - those hidden treasures that don’t make it into the guidebooks - and I’d be thrilled to share them with you.

Seven years ago, a friendly neighbour moved in three doors down, and over a spontaneous BBQ & beers we struck up a close friendship. Andrew, with whom I share a passion for cheap wine & expensive cheese, suggested I’d make a great tour guide. As my policing career neared its end, his idea sparked something in me; I could do this! After all, I’ve been exploring Scotland my whole life.

At the end of 2023, I took a leap of faith, retiring from the police force to embark on this new adventure. It’s been the best decision I’ve made in years. Every day has been a rewarding learning experience, and I’ve had the pleasure of showing off Scotland to some truly wonderful people. The fantastic feedback and reviews from my guests have been incredibly humbling and continue to fuel my passion for discovering new places and stories.

They say, “Do something you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.” Now, I truly understand what that means.
