Terms & Conditions
1. Booking & Deposits
To secure your chosen tour dates, we require a 20% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking. This deposit allows us to secure essential logistics in advance, including guide availability, ferry crossings, and third-party bookings.
2. Payment of Balance
The remaining balance for your tour is payable no later than 14 days prior to your first scheduled day of travel. If the balance is not received within this 14-day window, we reserve the right to cancel the tour and retain the original deposit.
3. Cancellations
By Local Legends: In the highly unlikely event that we must cancel a tour, clients will be informed promptly and offered a full refund of all monies paid.
By the Client: Should you need to cancel your booking, please notify us as soon as possible. While deposits are non-refundable, we recommend that all clients maintain comprehensive travel insurance to cover potential losses due to personal cancellation.
4. Punctuality & Delays
We understand that travel can be unpredictable. If you encounter delays on your first day of travel, please contact your guide at the arranged start time. We will make every effort to adjust the day's itinerary to accommodate your situation.
The One-Hour Rule: If a group fails to meet with their guide within one hour of the arranged collection time without prior contact, we will regard the booking as a "no-show" cancellation. In this event, the tour will be terminated, and no refund will be issued.​
5. Travel Insurance & Liability
Insurance Requirement: It is a condition of booking that all clients possess appropriate and adequate travel insurance. This must cover death, personal injury, medical expenses, repatriation, loss of or damage to luggage, and expenses associated with the cancellation or curtailment of a tour.
Personal Health: In the event of client illness, the client accepts full responsibility for any medical costs incurred. Local Legends shall not be liable to refund any portion of the tour cost due to illness-related interruptions.
Site Liability: Local Legends is not responsible for any accidents or injuries occurring at the historical sites, castles, or natural landmarks visited during the tour. Each site maintains its own health and safety policies, and clients are expected to adhere to those guidelines for their own comfort and safety.​​
6. Health & Participation
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, we must be notified in advance of any medical conditions or medications that may interfere with a client’s mobility or ability to participate in the agreed-upon tour program.​​
7. Conduct & Vehicle Safety
For the safety and comfort of all passengers, the group must abide by the guide's directions at all times while in the vehicle. We reserve the right to terminate a tour immediately if, in our reasonable opinion, the behaviour of a client or group is disruptive, dangerous, or upsetting to others, or if property damage is likely. In the event of such termination, no refund or secondary costs will be paid.​
8. Exclusivity & Private Service
Local Legends provides a strictly private tour service. Your booking is exclusive to your group only. We do not accept bookings for individuals joining together to "make up numbers," nor do we add other groups to your vehicle. If we suspect a booking is a "split group" arrangement, we reserve the right to cancel the booking.
9. External Factors (Weather & Roads)
While we strive to deliver a world-class experience, clients must accept that we have no control over third-party organisations, weather conditions, or road closures. In the event of lengthy diversions or site closures, your "Local Legend" will make every effort to provide a high-quality alternative itinerary, ensuring your adventure continues safely.
10. Complaints
We want you to leave Scotland with legendary memories. If you have a complaint or an issue during your journey, please bring it to our attention immediately so that we may attempt to resolve the matter quickly and amicably.
