Tour Description

Your adventure begins with an 8:30 AM collection from your lodgings, ensuring we arrive at the gates of Stirling Castle just as they open at 9:30 AM. Many travellers call this the best castle in Scotland, and once you stand on its volcanic crag, you’ll understand why. Our guides know all the "juicy stuff" - the stories that aren't printed on the plaques. We’ve devised unique routes through the castle that shed light not just on the royal occupants, but on the fascinating, often gritty lives of the servants who kept the palace running. You’ll hear fun anecdotes about how they lived, what they wore, and even how they might have smelled!

The afternoon takes us deep into the Perthshire Highlands. We’ll visit Balquidder Church to uncover the folklore of the region, stand beside the magnificent Falls of Dochart to hear tales of fierce clan rivalries, and explore the charming village of Kenmore, where the powerful Campbells of Breadalbane ruled for centuries. This is a day of epic history and jaw-dropping scenery, often finished with a "wee dram" in hand as we navigate a high mountain pass home.

The Local Legends Difference

The Local Legends just LOVE this tour. It's in our back yard. We know the hidden corners of Stirling Castle and the quiet Highland roads that most guides haven't discovered yet. By focusing on the human side of history - the royalty and the rebels alike - we deliver a world-class experience that feels less like a lecture and more like an adventure with an old friend.
